This is the project I was working on yesterday when I had the ironing catastrophe.

Another pieced top

A good mistake.
Today I was pressing some seams on a project when I noticed that the iron felt sticky. Apparently I had it sitting too close to this ugle Easter bucket that I've been using for sewing trash.
The bottom 1/3 of the metal plate on my iron was covered in melted plastic. There is a big blob on my ironing board cover too. At first I was just frustrated with myself...then I thought it might be the perfect reason to replace my piece-of-junk iron...then I was relieved to see that none of the melted goop got on the project that I was ironing. I decided that I must come up with an alternative refuse container! This is what I came up with.
It even folds down flat for easy storage when I am not in a sewing frenzy!
It turned out so pretty that I can't bring myself to put trash in it. So for now it's a sewing caddy to keep some of my notions close at hand.

Swedish Chef
Levi has a birthday party next week so I whipped up a little apron and chef's hat for the Birthday Girl. I love the little apron because the staps are made of one long cord that moves freely through a casing on each side. As you pull on the ties, the neck strap tightens. I got the idea from an old Pampered Chef apron and just scaled it down to fit a child.

Dress #3
Well, here is the last dress for Anna...actually, I am sure it won't be "the last" dress but it's the last one I intend to make for a while! I accidentally bought the wrong size of pattern so I had to tweek a different pattern that I already had. I think it turned out pretty well. I actually like it more than the original pattern. Sewing for little girls is so much FUN!

Dresses for Anna
Last week my sister-in-law showed me a catalogue from Boden kids...oh-my-goodness...such cuteness! We decided to try to find some dress patterns that were similar to a couple of the dresses in the catalogue. I have two of the three dresses made so I thought I'd post a sneak peek for Elizabeth and Anna.
It's had to tell in this picture but the first dress had strawberries all over it. Anna loves Strawberry Shortcake. When my boys are impersonating Anna they say, "Where's my cake?" That's what she calls Strawberry Shortcake - "My Cake"!
